About this product
This Irwin 9.0mm HSS Cobalt drill bit is designed for larger diameter drilling in stainless steel and other high alloys, suited to substantial clearance holes, pilot holes and general fabrication work in demanding materials.
The body is made from HSS steel containing 5% Cobalt, which improves red hardness (heat resistance) and extends service life, allowing the bit to hold its cutting edge at the high temperatures generated when drilling tough metals. The golden tempered surface finish reflects this heat treatment process.
A 135° split point grinding gives precise centring from first contact, reducing drilling pressure and preventing the bit from wandering off the mark. The industrial-quality ground flutes support accurate drilling and fast chip removal. Overall length is 125mm with a working length of 81mm.
