About this product

This is a 3.5mm HSS Pro TiN Coated Drill Bit from Irwin, supplied as a single bit with an overall length of 70mm and working length of 39mm. It is designed for drilling metal and harder, tougher alloys, making it suited to metal fabrication, electrical installations and general metalworking where precise pilot holes are needed. The bit body is made from high-quality HSS steel with a 2.5 micron Titanium Nitride coating of around 80 HRC hardness, giving good wear resistance. Compared with standard HSS bits, speed can be increased by 40-60% and feed by 10-20% without significantly reducing tool life, as the low-friction coating directs heat into the chips and coolant rather than the bit itself. A 135° split point tip provides accurate centring from first contact, reducing drilling pressure and the need for centre punching.
