About this product
The IRWIN Record No.5 Jack Plane is a traditional bench plane for the initial preparation of rough timber, suitable for both hardwood and softwood. Its 355mm (14in) base bridges undulations in rough surfaces that a shorter plane would tend to follow, making it useful for dimensioning rough-sawn timber and flattening boards before smoothing. It features a 50mm (2in) tungsten vanadium cutter blade for edge retention, along with a cast iron base, frog and lever cap for stability. Blade depth is controlled via an accurately machined setting mechanism with a traditional brass adjusting nut, offering full adjustment. Available with either traditional wooden handles or plastic handles as an economy option, both with the same adjustment features.
