About this product
The Stanley No.4 Smoothing Plane is a professional hand plane intended for final finishing work on cabinet making and general joinery. It is made from accurately machined fine grey iron castings, giving a stable, precise tool suited to smoothing hardwood surfaces and preparing timber for final assembly.
The plane has a simple, rapid adjustment mechanism with fingertip control over depth of cut and cutter alignment, and allows easy blade removal for sharpening. A chrome carbon steel cutter is fitted for edge retention, while a black epoxy finish and plated parts protect the casting from corrosion.
Cutter width is 2in (50mm) and the plane measures 9.3/4in in length.
