This Irwin long series auger drill bit is 10mm in diameter with an overall length of 400mm and a working length of 323mm, designed for deep wood boring where extended reach is needed, such as timber frame construction, fence posts or running services through thick walls.
A single spur cutting edge scribes the hole circumference for a smoother finish along the full depth of the bore, while the solid centre adds rigidity to help maintain straightness and accuracy over the longer length. The self-feeding screw point speeds up boring in both soft and hard woods while keeping control, and the hexagon shank resists slipping in drill chucks or bit extensions. The body is fully hardened from tip to shank for added durability under the forces of deep, large-diameter drilling.
