These Irwin HSS Pro TiN Coated Drill Bits are designed for drilling metal and tougher alloys, supplied as a pack of 2 measuring 1.5mm diameter with an overall length of 40mm and working length of 18mm. The fine diameter suits precision metalwork such as small pilot holes, delicate fixings and detailed engineering tasks requiring accuracy and control. Manufactured from HSS steel with a Titanium Nitride coating of around 80 HRC hardness, the bits allow drilling speeds 40-60% faster than conventional HSS bits. The coating's low heat conductivity diverts thermal energy into chips and coolant, reducing power consumption and heat build-up. A 135° split point grinding tip provides accurate centring from first contact, helping to prevent walking, which is particularly useful for this delicate diameter.
