About this product
Clear Cast Acrylic Sheet offers the best optical clarity and is often the acrylic of choice for high-quality display products that require machining. Key Features: Optically clearer than glass Suitable for indoor and outdoor use High impact resistance Uniform thickness Suitable for laser cutting Strong and lightweight Up to 92% light transmission - higher than most traditional types of glass. 10-year outdoor guarantee Supplied with protective film on both sides Sheet Sizes & Material Thicknesses: 3mm 4mm 5mm 6mm 8mm 10mm 12mm 15mm 20mm (Please note that this thickness is only available in 2440mm x 1220mm) 25mm (Please note that this thickness is only available in 2440mm x 1220mm) Clear Cast is formed by casting acrylic resin into a flat mould which gives it the advantages of a very consistent mechanical structure, a hard surface and great thermal stability. These benefits make it a versatile material suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. It offers high-impact resistance and fantastic optical clarity. Additionally, Clear Cast Acrylic Sheet, known as perspex, is ideal for complex machining processes and it can be easily and cost-effectively fabricated. The casting process makes it less uniform in thickness than extruded materials, with a maximum variation of +/-10% across a sheet. Acrylic sheet, which is also known by the trademarks of Perspex® or Plexiglass, is a perfect alternative to glass where a strong, lightweight and shatterproof material is required, or where safety may be a concern. It is more transparent than glass, admitting as much as 92% of light and remaining perfectly clear even when made as much as 33cm thick. Championed for its aesthetic, Cast Acrylic is suitable for edge polishing and will not yellow or discolour through exposure to sunlight, in fact, it will retain its level of light transmission for 30 years. For this reason, Acrylic is a popular choice for a number of commercial uses including: Aquariums Partition doors Glazing Furniture Retail displays Boat windows Enclosures Picture frames Further to its remarkable transparency and strength, Cast Acrylic also displays very low water absorption, superb chemical resistance and a wide working temperature range of -34oC – 80oC. This makes it great for use in hygienic areas where it may be repeatedly cleaned, and it is also approved for food contact. 'Clear acrylic' is also known by the trade names of Lucite, Altuglas, Plexi Glass and Plexiglass. Clear Cast Acrylic is commonly known as Perspex, please view our blog to understand the difference between Perspex® and Acrylic. Important Notes Due to the manufacturing process of cast acrylic, the thickness of the sheet has a maximum tolerance of +/-10%. Our current machines work to a tolerance of +/- 1mm.
