About this product
The Irwin long series auger drill bit is a 6mm diameter wood bit with an extended 400mm overall length (323mm working length), designed for deep boring where standard length bits cannot reach. It suits applications such as timber frame construction, deep post holes and installations through thick beams, maintaining a small diameter hole at extended depth.
The single spur cutting edge scribes the hole's circumference for a smooth finish, while the hexagon shank prevents slipping in the drill chuck or bit extension. A solid centre gives extra rigidity to reduce deflection over the longer length, and the self-feeding screw point speeds up boring in soft and hard woods. The body is fully hardened from tip to shank for durability during extended drilling operations.
