This Dormer A170 is a 14mm diameter drill with a 1/2in reduced parallel shank, made from high-speed steel (HSS) with a steam-tempered finish. It has an overall length of 156mm and a flute (working) length of 83mm, with a 118° drill point and right-hand cutting spiral of standard helix design.
Often referred to as a Blacksmith's drill, it suits situations where chuck holding capacity is limited, and can be used by hand or in a machine. It is a general-purpose drill suitable for a wide range of materials, designed for efficient drilling in steel without the need for pecking.
