The DeWalt DCM848 is an 18V XR cordless dual action polisher aimed at tradespeople who already have compatible DeWalt XR batteries, as this bare unit is supplied without battery, charger or case. Its brushless motor gives improved performance and run time, with a variable speed trigger and dial offering control for tasks such as car, headlight, windscreen and glass polishing.

The 125mm backing plate works with an oscillating speed of 2,000–5,500rpm and a 53mm orbit diameter. A lock-on trigger allows continuous use without holding the trigger, while the rubber gear case overmould improves grip and can be held via the front grip or side handle. The pad is rotated 90° to keep the rear of the tool clear of surfaces, and the cushioned hook and loop backing pad allows quick pad changes.
