About this product
The Dormer E500 is a straight flute HSS tap for cutting metric coarse threads, size M12 with a 1.75mm pitch, in the bottoming (plug/chamfer 3) form. It suits general-purpose threading in steel, stainless steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals, and is made to ISO 529 with a 6H tolerance.
Straight flute taps can be used by hand or in a machine, and are versatile for tapping through or blind holes. For blind holes they are typically used as part of a set alongside taper and second taps, with this bottoming tap used to finish threads close to the bottom of the hole. The straight flute design aids chip removal for smooth, accurate threading, and the bright-finished HSS construction offers good wear resistance for demanding use.
