The Dormer E500 is a metric coarse taper tap made from high-speed steel, designed for general-purpose hand or machine threading. It is suitable for use across a range of materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals, with a straight flute design that aids chip removal for smooth, accurate threading.
As a taper (first) tap, it forms part of a traditional three-tap set alongside second and bottoming taps, commonly used for tapping blind holes. This example is a right-hand thread, size 3mm x 0.50 pitch, with a 6H tolerance class and bright surface finish, manufactured to ISO 529.
