The Dormer E500 is a metric coarse, right-hand HSS straight flute tap in M3 x 0.5mm, Second (intermediate) type, with 6H tolerance to ISO 529. Made from high speed steel for durability and wear resistance, it suits general-purpose threading in steel, stainless steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals.
Straight flute taps are versatile enough for hand or machine use and can cut threads in through or blind holes. For blind holes, they are typically used as part of a three-tap set comprising Taper (First), Second (Intermediate) and Bottoming (Plug) taps, working progressively to form a complete thread.
Overall length is 48mm, with a bright surface finish.
