About this product
The Dormer E500 is an HSS coarse metric tap with a straight flute design, suited to general-purpose threading in steel, stainless steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals. The straight flute geometry aids chip removal for smooth, accurate threading and, being one of the few tap types usable by hand, it can also be run in a machine.
This is a Second (intermediate) tap, forming part of a traditional three-tap set (taper/first, second/intermediate, bottoming/plug) commonly used together for blind holes. It is a right-hand metric coarse tap to ISO 529, size M4 x 0.7, with a 6H (Class 2) tolerance fit, bright surface finish and an overall length of 53mm.
