About this product
The Dormer E500 is a straight flute HSS taper tap for cutting metric coarse threads (M6 x 1mm) with a 6H tolerance. It suits general-purpose hand or machine threading in steel, stainless steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals, made to ISO 529.
Being a straight flute design, it can be used by hand as well as in a machine, and works well for both through and blind holes. For blind holes, straight flute taps are typically used as a set of three - taper (first), second (intermediate) and bottoming (plug) - to ensure the thread reaches the base of the hole.
Manufactured in bright-finish high speed steel for durability and wear resistance, this taper tap has an overall length of 66mm.
