About this product
The Dormer E500 is an M8 x 1.25mm coarse metric tap with a straight flute design, made from high speed steel (HSS) to ISO 529. It is suitable for cutting threads by hand or in a machine, working across steel, stainless steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals, with a 6H tolerance and bright surface finish.
Straight flute taps such as this are typically used in sets of three for blind holes - taper, second and bottoming (also called plug) - with this being the bottoming tap, used to complete threads close to the bottom of a hole. Through holes can generally be tapped with a single tap.
